The Lady in the Storm
When my son started school, I started drawing daily lunchbox notes to give him a laugh.
I’ve been recreating some favourite drawings into larger sized illustrations.
It’s a lot of fun going over old drawings and going into more detail.
I get to play around with other materials and textures.
I mostly work with Indian ink, liquid watercolours and polychromos pencils.
Using my trusty Rhodia dot pad with coloured pencils
This is recreating the Lady in the storm. I made the original lunchbox drawing during storm Ciarán in 2023.
Working on a larger scale lets me add more details on the dog, giving him a confused expression.
In the original, the helpful neighbour was much too tiny and far away! I gave her a bit more presence in this print.
More of these remakes are… in the making!
